Allanbank established the following projects:

SIR ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE’S THE LOST WORLD

In collaboration with KPMG, Allanbank successfully achieved a landmark Public Product Ruling for a 22-part television series. It structured and arranged funding for the full budget of AUD$32.35 million with banks in Australia using an unique capital raising model. This landmark ruling was announced on the Australian Tax Office website and emulated by other financial institutions including Ernst Young and Macquarie Bank within 4 months of it being published.

BEWARE FALLING ANGELS

An independent film based upon the Miles Franklin-winning novel JUST RELATIONS by acclaimed author Rodney Hall.

MONASH

A major motion picture based on the books of Professor Roland Perry OAM on WW1 and General Sir John Monash.

WORLD FRIENDS with Futuretoy P/L

An innovative transmedia project that included a CGI 3D motion family film including merchandising. Substantial seed funds were raised via high net worth investors and accounting firms.

FULL MOON FESTIVALS OF THE WORLD

A six-part documentary series focused on traditional festivals in Far Eastern countries, such as Sri Lanka, India, Burma, Ladakh and Tibet. It was directed by Alby Falzon and has been sold in over eighty countries worldwide.

THE RIDDLE OF THE DEAD SEA SCROLLS

This landmark documentary presented a controversial new understanding of Jesus Christ and the origins of Christianity. It challenged many traditional beliefs and was based on a paper written by theologian Dr. Barbara Thiering. Broadcast by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation on Palm Sunday in 1991, it won national television ratings on a Sunday night against the commercial networks. This documentary was highly controversial and featured throughout all media for many weeks following its television release. Numerous newspaper articles, radio and television programs ran for months after its screening. A book was written on the response to the documentary, followed by a bestselling book based on Dr Thiering’s original concept titled “Jesus the Man”.

OTHER PROJECTS

Allanbank has raised development funds for at least 10 other documentaries with a combined budget of A$5 million and broadcast throughout Australia and the world. Included in the fund was THE MILLION DOLLAR IDEA a Series for the ABC (which became THE NEW INVENTORS within 6 months of pre-production). Company founder James Scott Mitchell was executive producer and raised the full budget of A$1 million.

EXECUTIVE PRODUCER JAMES SCOTT-MITCHELL

James is an Australian with over 40 years senior management experience in public and government affairs, policy and project development, structured finance and capital raising on large projects, independent film production exhibition and distribution, and the acquisition and organisation of financial and human resources towards attainment of social and corporate goals.

Through his influence James contributed to the development of the Australian film business and creative industries. He maintains excellent relationships with former Prime Ministers and Premiers and with current industry leaders, Premiers, Senators and Ministers in Australia.

James has the proven ability to transform large complex projects into manageable assignments creating excellent and noteworthy outcomes that show significant increased value for all stakeholders. He has the proven ability to inform and communicate with a wide audience. James has a strong interest in international affairs that offer global business opportunities for Australia’s arts/creative industries and its relationship with the corporate sector and business.

James created landmark projects which impacted industries nationally and internationally;

  • Conceptualised and led a consortium for the establishment of The Australia Network (formally Television Australia) 1992 – 2014.
  • James secured an initial A$39 million funding from Hambros Bank with both Liberal and Labour Party support. The broadcasting licence was eventually granted to David Hill, Managing Director of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation with a grant of A$6 million from Gareth Evens, then Labour’s Foreign Affairs Minister. It was closed in 2014.
